UK Gaming Charts Top 20

By   /   January 23, 2012  /   No Comments

20. Cars 2

The place of shame this week goes to Cars 2, sat squarely in last place. Wasn’t expecting to see this again, but then, life is full of surprises.

19. Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure

Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure also makes a re-appearance this week at 19th, scaring the living daylights out of me with the creature that’s cosplaying as Spyro.

18. WWE ’12

The third game making a resurgence in the charts, though somewhat more recent than the last title, is WWE ’12 at 18th. Rawr, wrestling and stuff. (yawns)

17. Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (damn, but I’m getting tired of typing that now), has managed to claw up a place in the charts to 17th. Boo, hiss.

16. Football Manager 2012

Yet again in 16th this week is Football Manager 2012. I’m kind of surprised this has managed to stay here so long, but then I remember it’s related to football and I’m not surprised anymore.

15. Wii Fit Plus

Wii Fit Plus has made the (not so) surprising move of jumping up 5 places in the charts this week, from 20th to 15th. Don’t make eye contact ladies and gents, that just encourages it.

14. Need for Speed: The Run

Need for Speed: The Run has eventually been beaten out of the top 10, falling 4 places to 14th. Took a long time though.

13. Super Mario 3D Land

When I told Super Mario 3D Land to move last week, I didn’t mean upthe charts. It’s moved up 2 places to 13th, rather than the 6 places and out of the charts it should have done.

12. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations has fallen 3 places this week, from 9th to 12th. I’m a bit iffy about the change in art style, I have to say. Desmond and Ezio look a lot different from the last two games. That said, the gameplay is exactly as it was, so all is well.

11. Mario Kart 7

Mario Kart 7 is stuck in 11th this week, after cruelly bludgeoning Forza 4 from this spot. The latter has also gone mysteriously missing from the charts…

10. RAGE

10th this week is the smooth as silk RAGE, which is down 2 places from 8th. Come on modern game developers, if id and Bethesda can make a game that runs this smooth at all times, so can you.

9. Rayman: Origins

Rayman: Origins has spun up the old helicopter hair and shot up the charts from 17th to 9th, a pretty impressive leap. I recently dug out my old copy of Rayman and installed it…oh god, so much nostalgia!

8. Zumba Fitness 2

Zumba Fitness 2 has fallen only a place in the charts this week, to 8th. The less I talk about this, the less ragey I will be, so moving on.

7. Saints Row: The Third

Ah, at least the title that bumped it out of its place was a half decent one, even if THQ can be a little…dubious with some of their disc-locked con…sorry, “downloadable” content. Saints Row: The Third, in 7th from 14th.

6. Zumba Fitness

But then we go downhill again, for quite some time too I’m afraid. Starting with Zumba Fitness still in 6th.

5. Battlefield 3

Battlefield 3 in 5th, performing it’s somewhat traditional place trading dance with…

4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

…Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which is in 4th. Please insert standard comment on boring grey/brownness, or quote from “Duty Calls” here.

3. Just Dance 3

3rd place is…wait a second, what is this? This isn’t Skyrim, nay, tis Just Dance 3! Does this mean…?

2. The Elder Scrolls V

Well, it’s not quite 1st place (yet), but brothers and sister of Skyrim rejoice! For The Elder Scrolls V has triumphed over the beast that is Just Dance 3! May it forever reign in peace and wisdom!

1. FIFA 12

But then we hit the bottom of the scum bucket, in the form of FIFA 12. In 1st. Again.
